Why LifeGevity Soap Company?

Over the years Fonda and I have come to realize that as they say, "You are what you eat" also applies to "You are what you put on your body, head and lips". As a researcher, it became clear that we were not doing ourselves any favors by dosing our bodies in cocktails of synthetic chemicals, artificial dyes, toxins and known carcinogens we were finding in most conventional skin, hair and lip care products. We set out to understand what all this meant for us. It became clear that corporate profits and slick advertising campaigns were winning the day. The conclusion was bad news for our well being and long term health, not to mention the environment.

We set out to go all-natural. We found many great natural soaps, skin, hair and lip products with varying degrees of "Natural" but did not find what we considered to be the perfect natural product.  A lot of products we found were comprised of filler oils with the good stuff listed as foot notes at the end of the ingredients list or scented with synthetic fragrance and so forth. In our products, our main ingredients are the good stuff.  Most continue to waste our resources with unnecessary outer packaging, plastic wraps and blister packs. It became clear to us that someone making a natural product is not necessarily making a great product.  We decided that someone would be us.

Enter the science of soap. Ten years of research, learning the properties of fatty acids (triglycerides) in oils and butters, the therapeutic benefits of each essential oil. Studying botanical additives and learning what properties they impart to soaps, balms and creams. After 1000's of recipe experiments, hounding friends, family and coworkers for years to try this, try that, fill out our survey... we believe we have formulated the most absolutely spectacular natural soaps, balms and creams available on the market today. The testament to our adventure are the wonderful customer testimonials and the across the board 5 star ratings all of our products have received on marketplaces like amazon and Etsy and this, our website.

Give us a try, your skin, hair and lips will love you, you will love your skin, hair and lips!

What We Will Never Use
Nor should anyone else

Parabens - (Synthetically produced and may react with UVB leading to increased skin aging and DNA damage, possible carcinogenicity and estrogenic effects being expressed with use over time)

Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate (SLS) - (A known skin irritant,  a pesticide and herbicide, toxic fumes when heated, corrosive properties, Long-term permeation of the body’s tissues, an eye skin and lung irritant, a harsh synthetic detergent.)

Siloxanes (Silicones) - (Are toxic, persistent, an endocrine disruptor, interferes with human hormone function, a possible reproductive toxicant that may impair human fertility, shown to cause uterine tumors and harm to the reproductive and immune systems, can influence neurotransmitters in the nervous system.)

Petrochemicals/Petroleum - (Components of mineral oil are toxic and known carcinogenics, once in our system does not metabolize, fat and breast milk are often contaminated with mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons, blocks the pores and the skin's natural respiration process, are classified as xenoestrogens, and on and on.)

Phthalates - (Can enhance the capacity of other chemicals to cause genetic mutations, it's been shown to cause developmental defects, changes in the testes and prostate, reduced sperm counts, a suspected endocrine disruptor,  interferes with hormone function,  Health Canada notes evidence suggesting that exposure may cause health effects such as liver and kidney failure in young children.) If an ingredient says "fragrance" or "Parfum" you are most likely slathering your body with Phthalates.

Triclosan - (possibly leads to antibiotic resistance, an unhealthy microbiome or a disrupted endocrine system. suspected of interfering with hormone function, reacts to form dioxins, which bioaccumulate and are toxic, irritating to the skin and eyes, banned in the US, but not in Canada as of yet (Soon) for use in soaps.)

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's) - (Are organisms that have had their DNA altered in some way through genetic engineering, linked to toxic and allergic reactions, sick, sterile and dead livestock, damage to organs studied in labs, potential risks that modified organisms could be inbred with natural organisms, leading to the possible extinction of the original organism.) No thank you. Please leave us the birds and the bees.

Polyethylene Glycols (PEG's)Are petroleum-based compounds that warrant their own blurb. PEGs may be contaminated with measurable amounts of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies ethylene oxide as a known human carcinogen and 1,4-dioxane as a possible human carcinogen. Ethylene oxide can also harm the nervous system. They have been classified as a developmental toxicant based on evidence that it may interfere with human development.

Ethanolamine Compounds (DEA, MEA, TEA)listed as carcinogens in the National Toxicology Program’s Report on Carcinogens. Causes liver cancer and kidney tumors and cancer of the nasal cavity. TEA and DEA have found to be hepatocarcinogenic (producing or tending to produce cancer in the liver). Studies have found that DEA affects human male reproductive health. DEA alters sperm structure, causing abnormalities that affect the sperm’s ability to swim and fertilize the egg. DEA accumulates in the liver and kidney, causing organ toxicity and also possible neurotoxic effects such as tremors. Another study suggests that memory function and brain development in offspring could be permanently affected by mothers’ exposure to DEA.

Also NO: Artificial Dyes, Artificial Scents, Synthetics of any kind, Formaldehyde,  Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA), Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT), Lead, Mercury, Coal Tar, Benzophenone, PABA, Avobenzone, Homosalate and Ethoxycinnmate. Products from animals that are injured or killed. Products that are tested on animals. Anything deemed to be unsafe or even potentially unsafe for us.

Conclusion - There are over 85,000 synthetic chemicals, toxins, carcinogens and just nasty stuff found in the majority of today's conventional skin care products. The above list just scratches the surface. We have been duped and are slowly and willfully poisoning ourselves. There is no need for this when what we seek to accomplish; smooth clear skin, vibrant hair, moist healthy lips and sometimes just a good soak in the tub can be accomplished without the nasty chemicals. Sure, natural might cost a little more but what is an extra buck in comparison to possibly removing years from our lives and damaging the only body we get. Fonda and I have chosen to go natural and provide an alternative to those who are seeking all-natural products that do not contain any of the above. LifeGevity Soap Company and our products.
